Herb White

Executive Director for Cornerstone Youth Centre

Herb White accepted the director’s position for The Cornerstone Youth Centre in May of 2003. Herb brings approximately 23 years of experience to this position and first started working with youth in 1980 through The Mustard Seed Street Church in Victoria, British Columbia. Herb began with The Mustard Seed Street Church in September 1980 by volunteering his musical skills and accepted a position as the Pastor’s Assistant in April of 1981. The primary emphasis of The Mustard Seed at that time was street youth and Herb led a team of volunteers who reached out to the youth on the streets of Victoria. As well as street work, Herb also managed the Drop-In side of the ministry for approximately four years and managed their half-way house for three years before leaving there in January of 1989 to come to Calgary.
In 1989 Herb gave of his time by volunteering with The Mustard Seed Street Ministry in Calgary and did this for approximately one year and then worked with The Mustard Seed Street Church in Edmonton, Alberta for approximately one year. In 1991 Herb joined the staff of The Mustard Seed Street Ministry in Calgary and held several different positions there before leaving in May, 2004. Herb is also an accomplished musician and recording artist. Herb plays guitar, sings and writes his own music. He has recorded a lot of his music and has performed with a number of bands over the past 30 years. Herb’s love for music will play an active role in working with the community youth. Herb and his wife Ginny are members of The Crossroads Community Church and have attended there since 1992. Herb and Ginny have two daughters. Audrey manages a small business with her husband Stephen. Ginny is a nurse in the OR at Rockyview Hospital.
